side curtain body socket

Any tips/tricks on removing the side curtain body sockets? From pictures on Snyders site, it looks like it just pushes in and snaps into place. Do they just pry out? Snyders sells an installation tool. Does that compress the sides in any way and will it help in removing the sockets?

Just carefully pry them out. The installation tool pushes the centre rear of the socket to spread the four legs outafter being pushed through the hole. I didn't have the tool, but used a pin punch with a diameter that would just go through the inside of the out ring. I gave it a few gentle taps with a hammer, watching the punch move inwards. About 2mm/ 1/16" spreads the legs enough to hold in place firmly. If you go to far, the legs will start to pull back in.

I hope your sockets originate from A&L. Some of the reproductions were not made well and are difficult to set. The holes in the body have to be a fairly tight fit as well.
