Take two asprin and call me in the morning!:D

I've found a few drops of oil on each of the two wicks and a cleaning of the commutator helps a lot. While the horn armature is spinning hold some fine sandpaper or emory paper against the commutator to clean it.:)

I would first back the armature off the diaphram and check how freely it turns. It should turn free and easy - if not , with acetone ,clean the commutater of any oil and re oil lightly the upper and lower bearing felts and re adjust the the tone screw and see if sounds any better. You should also check to see if it's getting enough current to operate properly. Sometimes steering gear oil leaks into the light switch causing poor contact and loss of electrical current at the horn rod end. Also check the wiring for corrosion or other damage. You can also use a VOM to check the field coils and armature for shorts and continuity. Hope this helps.

Suppliers have a tiny relay that "hides" in the horn cover. It shortens the distance of the current flow to make the horn run faster, especially when idling. I have one, but haven't had to use it yet. I've heard that they help in some cases. Bill W.
