L Lowell Fast Member Sep 5, 2014 #3 When I removed the starter I did not notice one bolt was shorter than the other 2. Contact with flywheel IS my concern. I guess it will not hurt to cut off the longer ones to be safe.

29er Senior Member Sep 5, 2014 #4 Starter mounting bolts are 3/8-16 x 1 and should be grade 5. Here's the page from Bratton's that shows them: http://www.brattons.com/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=27&strPageHistory=cat Unless you want authentic bolts for a show car, you can get them from your local hardware store. Don't forget the lock washers. Mike in Oregun Last edited: Sep 5, 2014

Tom Wesenberg Well-known member Sep 5, 2014 #5 The 3 mounting bolts are 3/8 -16 x 1". Guess I was looking them up while 29er was posting.
L Lowell Fast Member Sep 6, 2014 #6 Thanks for the clarification. Will cut off the longer ones to 1". Got enough starter/bendix/flywheel problems without gambling at this point.
