Shop Envy

29ModelA...

The more I look at the photo of your shop the more I love it. So much so that if it were mine I'd use it as my Advitar.

29ModelA that looks a bit like my garage. It was built in 1924 and built for a model T sized car :o

Ha, i like the look too, but the space is challenging. Guess its what i get for living in an histroric neighborhood. Not complaining though, knowing a workshop is in the future.

Lance. Do you do the auctions for the travel trailers, etc on I 49 at the old racetrack [ horse track] ? I've been trying to get to meeting in Baton Rouge but just can't get away from Lafayette in time to make meeting. I am really ready for a tour, RED STICKS always have great tours. have fun modelAtony. Lafayette,la

That ain't bad! At least your dog likes it. Mine looks at least that bad , but I have 4 dogs and lots of model A & AA projects. And now with the wet season on us I have to croud as much as I can inside. My truck projects sit outside under covers. Gary

Ok I bite what is the copper pot on the stove?

It is an old still that I restored, which when kept a quarter full w/water over a fire works great as a humidifier. We use a wood stove for heat and this let's us keep it from drying out the air to much, keeping wood wheels and other parts from drying out to much over the winter.

When the stove is really roaring in the winter, the water in it is boiling most of the time and steam pours out of the spouts. Been using it now for four years and it works great!!

Are you sure you work in this shop? It looks awful clean and organized. We keep an old kettle on the stove on the farm for the same reason.

Trailers! Are you kidding me? When we started selling trailers at Old Evangeline Downs, the total quanity of inventory was over 22,000 FEMA travel trailers, Park homes and Mobile homes. We just sold another 224 units last Saturday. The bids were lower than in past sales. I guess average winning bid was around $2,400 for a 32' travel trailer. We dont have another LIVE trailer auction sceduled for Lafayette/Carencro yet but we have an Online (timed) trailer auction sceduled for Nov. 13 (Inspection is in Denham Springs LA) as well as one going on right now (Oct.31) closing in the morning at 9am. www.hendersonauctions.com
We dont have many left, less than 1,800 which may sound like a lot but some have serious damage.
Red Stick Model A club has a tour this Saturday leaving from Baton Rouge headed to Houma for the AACA Fall Fun Day http://local.aaca.org/louisiana/lagniappe/Registration Flyer.pdf
Hope we make it back for LSU vs BAMA

Working on a deal to maybe get this building for a new shop. I may have to purchase it but feel it is a good investment. Old Pure oil filling station. The building is structurally sound but needs electrical work.

I have been working in the detached garage at my house. Gravel driveway and wishing I had a cement pad in front of my garage so I could pull engines somewhere other than just inside the garage. I have built a lot of storage/work spaces. A work bench on one side, shelving in the back and another bench on the right hand side. I am having difficulty with the back left corner...too many things in such a small space! I am working on an overhang on the backside of the garage. Taking a break for the weather and ended up with a fence post dropping on my head and a trip to the emergency room! :D

Here are some photos over the course of my Model A disease of my garage and the different transformations it has taken.

I like the hanging of bikes from the ceiling, up and out of the way. If I do were to do that I'll also bet that is where they will stay until they bury me. Also open selves and cabinets work for me. Out of site out of mind to me means "I forgot where I put it!"
