Shoebox seat belts

Anyone ever mount seat belts in a '49-'51 Ford? Due to the shape of the floor it doesn't seem possible to get a flat 15 inch spread between the floor belt mountings. I am open for some ideas of this!

Thanks

Tom

I have them in the front on my 49. I didn't measure the distance between the mounts, but why does it have to be 15"?

Butch-

Thanks for the quick reply. I have two sets of lap belts from two different manufactures. In both cases that state 15 inches minimum, 25 maximum. I guess what they are saying is for "normal" person use. Unfortunately, the most "flat" area I have to work with is 12 inches.

If you get a chance could you measure your placement??

Thanks

Tom

I put them in my '49, I use a retrack style, so one is mounted on the sides of the bench seat, the other is mounted flat on the floor.

Special shaped mounting adapters sometimes have to be fabricated to attach belt end connectors to. They have to be heavy enough to hold at least 1500 lbs to account for G-forces of the average human at road speed velocities.

Get the special shapped and threaded mounting plates form Julianos Hot Rod Parts. They are far superior to washers. Just move them around next to the brace and you will see the best place to position them. I have them on my 50, the outside one is over the frame but that is no problem because they are threaded and the belt mount screws into them. Bob
