I have unsuccessfully searched for information about ships that have sailed to Copenhagen with Model A cars only in 1928. The evidence suggests there has been an early trip over here .. * A 189 *. is reg in Sverige, in mid March 1928. And I know * A * 5918 which is reg d. 17 March 1928 and A * 2820 * which is reg.1. April 1928 .. I am very int to find out if there is a list of the ships sailed to Denmark and possibly how long it has agreed to sail over .. .* A * 5918 has come early, paid the tax 25.feb 1928 .. There were still many places which had not got a Model A i there sales houses..
I hope someone has little information..

Best Regards

Shipping of early Ford vehicles is an interesting but largely undocumented history.
Have you read 'Packing & Shipping Ford Model A's & Parts in 1928' which was reprinted in 'Restorer' about 1974? ; originally by FL Faurote in 'Factory & Industrial Management' ,Aug. '28.
Also, in Ford Industries, 1929 [ also reprinted as 'Matchless Model A'], is mention of Ford ships. Names mentioned in transporting Ford products to foreign plants were 'East Indian'; 'Oneida'; 'Onondaga'; 'Lake Ormoc; 'Lake Gorin'' & Lake Benbow'.
You could also try finding a copy of 'Ford on 6 Continents ; American business Abroad', by Wilkins & Hill, Wayne State University Press 1963. This has a lot of information about early Ford international but is hard to find.
I hope this may be of some help.

.........would be an interesting factoid! I kow that I spent about five grand on a container shipment from China to Florida back when I had my business in 2003. I'm sure that amount of money would ship a whole bunch of Model A's back in the day, LOL.

Hi

Me and Per are studing the very Early Ford A history and for the moment I have send out questions to the scandianvian Ford A Clubs + UK + Nederland to see if anyone can bring more light into the first delivery of Model A:s. It seems like the A189 came together with a lot of 4 digit cars and that can maybe explain why the A189 had later rear fenders, etc. The complete Model A history is not written yet
The only 3 digit A that was known in Sweden was the A189. We do have several 4 digit cars and I´m trying to make a list.
