Something good to know about Post Office shipping insurance. If you receive a insured package that is damaged in shipping, DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE. If you open it and then take it to the Post Office for an insurance claim, they WILL NOT honor the insurance. Take the unopened damaged package to the Post Office and let them open it.
I suppose their logic is that some of the contents might have been removed if you opened the package or maybe the contents was changed or damaged after opening the package.
