Shim Material

I am reshimming a 34 pickup cab and would like to replace the original wood shims. I am considering making some new ones out of Oak. Would this be OK or is there a better method. Thanks for any suggestions.

Pickups did use wood.

I'd say oak would be ideal.

Thanks Guys. Yes the originals were wood. My thought was to remake them from wood. I believe I can get them very close to get the proper door alignment. I believe Oak would have the least chance of shrinking so that is what I was planning to go with, unless someone has found a better method.

If you have a choice, I believe red oak is a bit more weather resistant than white oak.
