Shifting transmission

My pickup got so that going into second on occasion was like hitting a solid wall. New forks, shafts, etc, fixed it. Could try a good tower from another car.
Bruce, re-read post# 16, you described it perfectly, when you said, "Like hitting a solid wall". It's like you need the "slap", with an open palm, to get the detent plunger to climb out of the knotch in the shift rails. It'll probably get easier, with more use. At least, it WON'T be prone to jumping out of gear!

Update:.......the man they did the rebuilding of the car, including the transmission, said he used new old stock parts (which he has accumulated over 50 years, including 30 years at Pages garage). The restoration was finished in 2012. The owner had driven 12 miles after the restoration, then sold me the car in 2015. I have driven about 450 miles since I bought this car.

I am guessing that this will work in over useage.

I have tried the "slap into gear", and it was flawless.

The knowledge and wisdom on the Ford Barn, is such an incredible resource.

Thank You Very Much;
