Shifting Tower

You also need to make sure the lever is in the neutral position so that the sliding shift fork shafts are in the proper position to mate with the bell housing. You may need to move the sliding gears in the trans a bit to get them into the proper position so that the forks will slip in properly.

I can only get the most forward to slide 1/4". I pushed the clutch in to relieve any pressure. Is there a video for this?
You may need to reach down into the transmission and rotate the main gear shaft by hand to let the sliding gear disengage from it.

Thanks Jay Jay and Gary, I think my problem is, I have the shift lever in neutral but I don't know how to get the transmission in neutral?

John, slide the two gears so they are in the position as shown in my picture. This is the neutral position. You will be able to spin them when they are in neutral. Slide your shift forks in the groove on the side of the gears. When the shift tower is in neutral, the shift rails are even with the front of the tower. Hope that helps.
