Shifter spring?

I have scavenged 3 transmission to build one for my double A , and found this spring in a left handbrake top, it is the lower spring in the picture – along with a rubber insert, and cup, just curious’ if this was original?.

they early shift top for the left hand e brake vehicles had the shorter spring, cup and felt. It is visible in the cut away drawing in the owner manual. I have pictures of the manuals on my site...fwiw,jm http://www.jmodela.com
