Shifter lever questions

Okay newbie to the flatheads...

I have a 59ab with the top loader 3 speed, shifter housing is an 81-, what year shifter lever will work with this transmission

If you have the 81A-7222 shifter top housing, any of the 3 speed top load levers from '36 to '39 passenger cars and half ton pu up to '52 will fit. Now depending on which vehicle you have, some of these lever configurations may hit the dash.
 
There are a number of shapes in both early and late levers...
With 81 (or 68) top you must have a 1936 and up lever...my rough measurement for fleamarket identification:

Measure from the flat top of the pivot ball to the very lower end of the lever.
1936 and up is4 7/8, early is 4 1/8.

Any stick working in a slanted tower should be early, any functioning in a vertical tower should be late.
