Shifter Housing Parts

I picked up a "double-detent" shifter housing for my '36 to try and remedy my second gear shifter kick-out woes.

Any place to get parts? Van P doesn't list some of the pieces I'm looking for. Maybe just call them since they are in Ohio?

The "housing guide pin" is bent. I figure after 70 years or so maybe new detent springs wouldn't be a bad idea.

I know I can make a guide pin if need be, but I figure a 10-penny nail may not work as well as the correct part;).

Instead of a nail use an old drill bit of the correct diameter if you need to make a pin. Much better steel!

The pin is not available as a service part. We've had to replace those before to save an otherwise good shifter housing. We used a B-7155 lockpin, cutting it to length. You have to grind the head carefully to mimic the bevel of the head on the original pin. You can't peen over the other end.....the pin will simply bend in the middle. Suggest welding or brazing the ends to secure it. Make sure the openings are closed up or it may leak oil.
