shakeproof washers

Glenn , the ones under the pan head screws that hold the gas tank to firewall [under hood] or as some say internal washers...Shakeproof lock washer , and you have countersunk shakeproof [door hindge screw washers] , External Shakeproof Lockwashers too.[under bolt for fan belt pulley on Generator.

Glenn,

Suggest you get the " Ford Model A Standard Hardware 1928-1931" book by Mick Isbell.

Both National clubs have the book.

Was there a specific application on the A that caused you to ask this question?

One odd use was the 30-31 tank to firewall. Ford used the next size or two up of shake proof washer from the factory. These washers also have a course inside tooth. You will see the washers are off center on cars with the proper washers.

If you use some of the repro screw for the firewall gas tank you have one other problem. The part of the screw by the head is a bit smaller and the washer goes too far off center. Also the repro screws come with the correct size washer which is incorrect.

The repro screws just did not look right. I ended up reusing all original screws and washers. Keep in mind I am not going for show, just it looks so not right to me and it was easy to do.
