Hi Guy's,

Had the ball's replaced on the spindle's..I went to install the tie rod which the adjustment wasn't changed from way back..

To my surprised one wheel was crooked off to one side ? I was thinking of using a carpender square to true up the backing plate to the axle..Is this a good way to start to get the wheel's straight to start with ?

All's I can think of is the ball stud wasn't installed straight ?..

Any idea's ?

Greg out west,

did you tighten up the tie rod plugs evenly ? if not loosen the plugs on the tie rod ends and go back and forth tightening a little at a time

i would also use teflon ball seats, then road test and then do a front end alligment

Any time that the tie rod or end plugs are removed it will be necessary to re adjust the toe in. This may not be all of the problem. When you send steering arms to be rebuilt you don't necessarily get the same arms back. A bent steering arm could be part of the problem. Even if you have the same steering arms it will still need the toe in re set. I set mine 1/16 plus or minus 1/32.

As stated any time you change any steering parts you must reset the toe in. If you think about it even if the new balls are in exactly the same place you have effectly added material to the balls. That change moves the arms which changes the spindle location. Marco has great toe in information on his web site at

Sounds like a bent steering arm. I had one like that once with a replacement arm with a new ball. I heated mine up in a vise and bent it back. Worked well ever since.
