Setting tape

It's not a one-size-fits-all proposition, but rather a function of the thickness of the glass (it does vary) and the width of the channel.

David is correct. There are a few different thickness's of glass setting tape.
Measure your vent frame channel thickness, and bring that measurement
and bring your glass to your favorite glass shop and get the correct thickness
of setting tape. Also get some solution he recommends to make it slippery.

I got my setting tape from Drakes, I’m not sure of the size, but I did set the roll out in the sunshine. This softened the tape and made it easier to apply.

I used 1/16 on my 40 with aftermarket glass. But, to get the size I set the glass in the frame and measured the gap and divided by 2. By god it was right (I probably got lucky).

Upholstery supply may have the tape. Foam glass cleaner is great. If you have thin tape you can double it. Last best when stored in a cool place. Fridge is good. Good solid rubber mallet a your good to go. Sharpe razor blade to trim it. If have spot that tears add some black sealer after clean up. Tight corners like vent windows are tough.

I've never used it, but there are threads here where the guys used multiple layers of friction tape to get the proper thickness and then razor blade off the excess.
That would be hockey stick tape in the modern world we live in
