Service Manual for F1

I read many people referring to service manuals.
I have a 49 F1 and I'd like to have a manual on this truck if it exists.
Are they reproduced or do you just have to be lucky enough to have one?

Many of the repo parts dealers and Ebay have the 49-51 Ford truck shop manual in either used or new reprints. THere's also a 52 supplement that cover the changes made in 1952. These are a must have if you're going to stay stock. Covers alot of info. I use mine all the time. Also a good idea to get a parts catalog. Lots of exploded drawing there. Try to find the 48-54 or 48-55 book. Avoid the 48-56 set as it's full of mistakes and omissions. THey appear as used on Ebay all the time.

Mac's have one listed, 39-48 Ford and Mercury cars and trucks. 475 pages, 550 illustrations. VB222 at $51.75. Most information should cover your 49.

Works good
Lasts long time.

I bought a reprint of the '1949-50-51 Ford F-Series Trucks Shop Manual with 1952 supplement' some years ago and use it all the time. Macs have it listed with the above title, '480 pages, 988 illustrations BK108A'. Thoroughly recommended. Price in their late 2011 catelogue is $33.95.

That's a very good manual. I use all the time. I see them on E pay, Macs and Sacremento Ford have them. Very useful info.

It's available from Classic Haulers F-1 Parts in Franklin, IN for $35.

You can also check with Chuck Mantiglia of Chucks Trucks in CT. Great guy to deal with and he has a vast knowledge of the Bonus Built trucks. He has restored many of these (Dearborn winners) and has a lot of parts.

You may wish to have a CD version also. You can print the pages you need, if they get dirty, print another. Never messes up the book!!
