Selective Clutch Chatter

I have a 1933 Ford cabriolet. Recently, I removed the engine for some major work. Since reinstalling the engine, the car runs very well, but the clutch chatters badly when I give the engine some gas while going into second gear. This does not occur in first or third gear, maybe slightly in reverse.

Any ideas why the clutch would be selective about the gear??

You did put your anti-chatter rods back in, didn't you ? Maybe you left one loose ????

Hi Mike: I have to admit I did not install the antichatter struts. I will find a pair and install them, but I still wonder why it is so sensitive only to second gear. By the way, your beautiful Ford appears to be identical to mine, dark blue with black fenders.
