on the 35 coupe seat is there suppose to be a piece of wood under the adjuster handle area that supports the "front" of the pan ? thanks

Dave-

Early '35s didn't have any bracing under the handle. Late '35s had a additional cross brace put on the lower seat frame which minimized the sagging where the adjuster handle is. I have an early '35 and what I have done is put a thick chunk of rubber under the center section of the seat frame to prevent the center sagging. Enclosed are a couple of pictures showing an early'35 and a late '35 seat frame which should clarify what I am talking about.

Hope this helps.

Tom

Dave,
There is picture of a '35 seat showing the wood brace on e-bay. item 270921083437 (1935 ford parts)

Paul-

Thanks for the ebay reference. To be honest I have never seen such a brace before! On my '35 (early) there was no brace nor were there any holes in the seat frame for a wooden brace to be bolted to it. A quick check of the V8 Club's "1935-36 Book" found no reference to it. I wonder how wide spread that modification was? Perhaps others can jump in on this. At any rate it seems like a good idea for a reto-fit.

The pic on ebay is the reason i ask this question thought i was missing a wood piece mine doesn't have it, i agree with tom looks like it makes good sense

If the steel pan has the additional holes for the wood brace attachment then it originally had the wood. My 35 seat has the wood but I am not sure if the seat came with the car. The additional holes are about 13" each side of adjuster.
