Seat Track - 47 Super Deluxe

The seat in my '47 Super Deluxe does not stay locked in place on the driver's side once enough backward pressure is placed on it while pressing on the brake or clutch pedals.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, what was the solution?

Any photos available of the seat track assembly that would help describe its locking mechanism?

I don't have any pictures, but the lever that unlatches the seat track is spring loaded to cause the "tooth" on the end of the lever to lock into notches on the fixed track that is bolted to the floor. There is also a small diameter rod that connects the drivers side lock to the spring loaded track lock on the passengers side, allowing both sides to unlock when the release lever is pushed. It is possible the locking tooth/track notch is worn, the lever on the drivers side is partially seized, or the spring has failed or not connect.

51woodie described it accurately. I would just say that it’s not all that difficult to pull the front seat out. I think there were three bolts on each side on my ‘46 sedan coupe, and they were not difficult to get to. It might take a helper to assist in lifting it out, but it will be easy to diagnose, fix, and lubricate with it out and flipped over. Good luck

The seat in my ‘46 has two bolts on each side at front and rear each track. It helps to have help to hold the bolts from the top while removing the nuts from under the floor pan. I managed it by myself, using visegrips to hold the bolt on top. You will need a 6-8” extension to reach up past the frame.
