Can anyone tell me what the width of the seat riser in a 1929 roadster is, I have one but I dont think it is correct, please help Thanks

The seat riser for a 29 roadster should be the same one used in the various coupe models of the 28 & 29 model years. The one in my old 29 Sort Coupe is near 39 13/16" wide.

Actually, the coupe riser is different compared to the roadster. The almost nos ford roadster riser in the rafters is 43-1/4" at the rear and 40-1/2" at the front just before the radius corner.

Steve is correct, the seat riser on a roadster is totally different from a coupe for 28 and 29. I have one of each. I can measure the roadster seat riser tomorrow if you would like. It is out in my barn. The roadster riser has a raised edge on it to hold the seat cushion/springs, where the coupe doesn't. Let me know where you want the measurement(s).

Rusty it's 42 1/2 inches at the widest point in the rear (inside where the spring sets). Perry

Perry,
Glad to heard from you again. I have a very nice original roadster seat riser I bought from Bill Johnson in Indiana when I was buying his 29 phaeton. The riser in my 28 was extremely rusted out. The riser from Bill was very nice with only a little rust pitting and no rust outs. I am hoping to finish up my 28 special coupe this summer and then move on to the phaeton. The roadster will need to wait for a little while, since I bought the phaeton and 29 CCPU recently. I have always wanted a phaeton and finally got a chance at a reasonable price.

I think you guys are refering to the seat frame. The riser is for the seat back and forms part of the foot well for the rumble seat if so equiped. The lower seat frames are a lot different between models. The riser for coupes & roadsters differ in the way the seat back is mounted but its only a few little brackets that mount the wood seat frame for a roadster.
