Seat cushion springs query 1950

Apparently, the front seat springs are of the sinuous type and the rear seat is the higher grade coil springs (see photos). Just wondering if anyone knows exactly why? Was the back seat actually meant to be more comfy? Or more likely, easier to make the adjustable front with sinuous spring, weight, cost, squeaks, and burlap, etc. "fallout", being possible factors. Also curious, was the sinuous "S" type something new for '49?

Those look the same as the front seat springs on my 51. I repaired a broken spring in the backrest hoping for greater comfort. Was disappointed! :)

Part of the Police option is heavier seats. I have the '53 Police brochure. Maybe the same for 49-51's? Newc
