Should a Rustoleum spray can paint finish on a 28 Leatherback be sealed on the cowl near the gas input? Rustoleum cust. service has no helpful comment.
Is urethane recommended? What wax polish is recommended tor restore the the shine after wet sanding?
Hello, there are additives the can be use in the clear coat to reduce shine or pre mix as semi gloss, here’s a picture of my fuel tank , using two step paint, a lot more work that just using lacquer and buff the parts you want gloss.
It doesn't say if it's impervious to fuel but should offer some protection over the one step spray paint.
I think you'd be better off protecting the paint with a rubber mat that is a snug fit on the fill neck and a rag to catch any drips from the nozzle.
Wax/polish won't restore the shine after sanding. It's a process that doesn't lend itself well to the thin coverage you get from spraycans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpi1rSBHXJg
I will use the drip rag device too. I'm very apprehensive about using spray cans to get even coverage with the urethane. i had to do a lot of wet sanding to even out the initial color paint job. Very uneven even with constant shaking.
I have wet sanded and buffed the finish. I'm looking for the best way to protect the raw paint (no clear coat) from bird droppings, bugs, minor gas spills. Some have recommended LEP gloss floor protectant as an affordable method. (?)
