any of our friends/fellow barners, in LONDON...do you know of this guy?
rooney fredrick ,fredrickrooney020gmail.com

im in need of the panel above deck lid on my '30 roadster, so i advert in the fordbarn wanted section, a short while back..mabe two weeks. this guy now answers my want ad and asks for my phone number!
although i NEED this panel......i smell something bad this way comes! im hoping that im wrong, and one of our london friends can help here:)

As for his first and check to see if it's really a london number.
if in doubt let it pass. How much do you think it would cost to ship that part anyway. I would think a custom part could be made locally cheaper then the cost of the part and shipping from london.

You could ask him if he has some other hard to find model A part and if he says he has it to, it is probably a scam. I suspect it is a scam anyway. A year or so I had a fellow in the UK answer my Fordbarn wanted ad. I ask for a picture of the part. After stalling for a while he sent a picture of something totally different. I messed with him for a while, telling him I sent him payment for the "ghost" part, which was actually a "ghost" payment. I guess he finally figured out I was fooling with him and stopped responding. BTW, he said the shipping would be very cheap - another clue it was a scam.

A short time ago, I advertised my need for a pair of early thirty running board / splash aprons on the Fordbarn parts site. A chap from England responded that he had a set for 100 pounds plus shipping. I asked for a picture and he responded with a pair of thirty something rubber running board covers. The email exchange went back and forth until it became very obvious that this was a scam. Remember, if it is too good to be true, it probably is............. Gar Williams

ask for his address and phone number then check it on the internet...whenever in doubt ......do not purchase!

rusty,
very perseptive of you. yeah, he never said that he had my part, but did say that he 'can supply all parts for my application' wth:confused: how come these guys are giving london such a bad rap??

I advertised a pair of wheel weights for a Ford 8N tractor. Each weights 300 or so lbs. Some guy in England wanted to buy them. I terminated that contact quickly.

Some time ago, on the old Fordbarn, when all of this Nigeria-Uk stuff started, I placed a wanted ad for a 1940 Greyhound radiator cap.
Guess what ? Sure enough, someone in the UK had one for sale.

Did the same thing. Advertised: Wanted Vintage Ford exhaust air. Sure enough, email from london (?) they had it.

Kept them going for a little while. I figured if they are talking back and forth to me they weren't scamming someone else at that time.

I almost bought a Granado 5 string banjo for $1200(most sell in the range of $5000) on EBAY, from a person in UK ,wanted me to send money via western union.Said the Banjo was in the US.After further checking found out it was a scam.whew !!

Beware Cashiers checks. I advertised some items for sale and received an offer of a cashiers check. Don't figure that if you have cash in hand you are safe! There are counterfeit checks going around and the person cashing the check is liable even after the check is cashed.
