Saved from the scrap man

We went and picked up these 5 engines, they were going to the scrap if we didnt want them .two are std bore 3-3/16 and two at 3-1/16, the other has one cyl rusted but salvageable.
With the price of scrap iron at $50 a ton these would have got the bloke about $25 .
Only drama was the ever reliable Model A starter drive fell apart in his drive, still only took a minute to remove it and push start, the new modern drive had snaped in half,so I put a good original back in and its quiter than ever on the starter.
The 5 engines will be good spare for the dragster,

Hey Lawrie, great save. I thought those moden starter drives were bullet proof. I have one on my Model B engine in my Model A. 12 volt system. Been working good for 2yr's. Walt

Walt, the modern drive had got a bit noisy,It was well and truly jamed ,when I pulled it apart the centre scroll had snapped, and it had been hitting the back of the ring gear teeth.

I was so hoping you were going to reach for the crank. Maybe next time.
