sanding...how much?? to buff

for buffing, is it important to sand all the way thru the low spots in orange peel? when I think I am about finished sanding, I shine a light to catch the little reflections.

if I miss some of the teeny tiny spots, will they look bad?

If you can see or feel imperfections they will show. The smoother the final coat the more they will be noticeable. Of course, you can alsways color sand again after you paint. Boy, I hate to sand.

You are wet sanding when you color sand, so use a rubber squeagy to wipe away the water and you will see any imperfections in the dry area.
