Barners,
Getting ready for trip to Gettysburg with my '34. Past week had me doing last minute things, put correct carb on, tested, ran great. Removed the flex hose that was a Shewman repo and installed a stock hose. Didn't get to test run due to rain and terrible heat. So tonight I'm loading up for the trip---car won't start. Will run with a dump of gas in carb, -no fuel into carb from fuel pump. Removed the flex hose and could not blow air through it!! The inner rubber of the hose is collapsing in on the ID of the hose! Luckily I had another hose, installed it, runs like a top.

I wonder if the other model hose Shewman makes is closer to the original, and would pass inspection at the meet?? The one with the check-valve that I have is quite obviously not a standard looking hose. GM are you out there to comment on this???

You could change the hose just for the Concourse. I look forward to meeting you there. I'm leaving in a few!

I would do as Cecil recommended. Run Shewman's hose with the valve when driving and change it for the show. You might ask the chief judge before the show to look at it and explain the problem. There is an article in the V/8 times about the replacement hoses supplied by venders cracking and failing. This is a safety issue and allowances can be made. Bob does make hoses without the valve. The valve end is about a 1/4" longer than a stock end fitting. G.M.
