Sagging doors on my 35

My 35 coupe doors are sagging. I have removed the hinge pins which were difficult to remove as you may know, now how can I raze up the door so it will shut properly? I can't see a way to shim it up. Any clues? Thanks!

If the pins are sloppy within the hinge, oversize pins are available from the usual suspects, which require a careful re-drilling of the hinge to accept them. In some doors, the hinge mount has loosened from rust or stress cracks, and movement can be seen while operating the door, observing the hinge in relation to the door itself. If this is the case, the correction will require professional help. Some doors in otherwise good condition, can be pried into correct position, which was not uncommon on the assembly line.

Rust and/or cracks in the jambs, hinge pockets, or even the rockers are usually the cause. And just plain bent hinges and jambs in the door itself. Have you thoroughly looked for any of these gremlins?

The sagging doors on my 1937 are due to stress cracks in the door frame around the lower hinge, not the body side.

Ford still hammers or bangs doors into correct position at the Chicago Assembly Plant where I am employed. It works.

Be aware 35 male door dovetails come in two different offsets as well as without any offset. Using the correct dovetail can correct door closing problems.

The door should close in a perfectly aligned fashion even with no dovetail installed. You should not expect the dovetail to shove the door up into alignment every time you close it.
