I work on a doctors old cars sometimes,we were talking about mouse problems and cleanouts.When I asked him about the Huanta virus,he just said,not here in the northeast,not yet anyway.Then he proceeded to tell me of 30 other things that can happen from mouse dust,and all would scare you to death.Then I asked why me,or anybody I know have never had anything more than a plugged nose after working around it.He said it was because you guys grew up playing in the crap.Moldy barns and cellars,moldy old cars,cow barns,chicken and pig pens,chemicals and asbestos in garages.No such thing as air conditioning for us,never in the schools.We ate things that grew on the sides of the road.The dogs,birds,and other animals all pooped and peed all over the blueberries,blackberries,raspberries,wild strawberries and scallions.If we didn't see em do it we were good.We had immune systems that would kill most anything,because we started testing them from the time we were little.People that grew up in climate controlled homes,went to school in climate controlled classrooms,went from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car,to the air conditioned mall,and back again,have no resistance to anything in the air.I was put out to play from the time I could walk.I can remember being hooked up to a post like a little dog so my mom could take her eyes off me for a few minutes.I had something like a 50 foot rope so I had some wiggle room.
