I don't know if this would be considered blasphmany but is a ****** swap [S10 with OD] be that difficult????? Can the tourque tube still be used or do you need an open driveshaft????? Can the same rear end be used???? Hey while we are at it how about an automatic ******, any thoughts........

It's an option. I have a friend who installed one in a 31 tudor and loved it. Don't have details.

I have the T-5 in my '29 CCPU and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread! Go over to the HAMB as there are several threads over there describing how to use a Jeep T-5 with a closed drive shaft. You can do a search here as there are a number of posts that include photos. Here's a shot showing the correct way to reinforce the A crossmember

I have one on my 1931 Deluxe Tudor and really enjoy it. Makes the driving so much more enjoyable. Kit is available to do the conversion with open drive shaft

Its been done, with and w/o the torque tube. Another option is the F-150 OD conversion, for folks that want to keep it all Ford. And there is the Mitchell OD, also.A little searching will turn up lots of info. Good Luck.

I put a t5 in my speedster . It would been a lot easier if I would of bought the kits that where out there. I had to make an adapter plate to fit up to bell houseing ( had to use a a bellhousing shorter) . Make clutch and brake peddle fixture ( AA bellhousing doesn't have one). Cut section out of cross member. Make trans and rear radis rods supports, change pinion ( adapter from speed way) have open style drive shaft the machined. Then all the skinned fingers , bandages , remaking of parts that didn't work out, and redues . With that all said driving with the t5 in the car is a real pleasure . It was well worth the experience. That's called welcome to the model a world . Miff

That sounds like a lot of work. I tip my hat to you sir.

This is a Camaro T5 that we built with the previously-mentioned Jeep 4X4 tailshaft and tailshaft housing (the SHORTEST T5 configuration possible using Borg-Warner parts), that's going into a '35 Ford with a shortened torque tube. A shortened Model A torque tube/drive shaft would bolt-up just as easily. The Camaro gearset uses a 2.95 1st gear, which is much more appropriate than that 4.03 1st gear found in S-10 T5s. DD

I have a 5 Speed in the 29 Tudor sedan:) I just traded my 28 CCPU for. I hate to admit it, but I love that 5 speed.

While the original set up is great, I drove a friends tudor with the S-10/open drive line 5 speed in heavy city traffic, nice is all I have to say. :)

t-5 in mine for years . great & much ez to drive .
do you want to keep torque tube ? if so a guy on the hamb sells the kit . (daddy o)

Crazydaddyo on the HAMB is no longer making kits for the S-10 4X4 version, which is substantially longer than the Jeep 4X4 version. Kato Kings on the HAMB (I have NO interest in such) is currently making this kit ((below) for the Jeep 4X4 tailshaft/tailhousing version (like the trans I pictured above). It consists of the aluminum, torque tube clamshell adapter, and a 23-spline to 6-spline Ford U-joint adapter. The Jeep housing and 23-spline output shaft will bolt-up with any NWC T5 transmission case and guts. DD

Bottom line is when you see it finished it is not a Model A Ford anymore. It is a vehicle comprised of several different vehicle parts. Try to have it judged by a National organization such as MAFCA. You will have created a hotrod. Wayne.
