rusty relic auction

There was a big auction near me in late August. Over 90 cars owned by a 74 year old bachelor, selling everything and now he's going to look for a bride (his reason for selling according to locals). Most went for $500 to $3000. The blue roadster is a steel 32 Ford, small block Chevy, AND A TITLE went for $6500. My friend in the orange shirt picked up this Lincoln Zephyr for $4000

Holy mackerel.... Its hard to believe one man has all of these old cars and trucks setting around. He's sitting on a gold mine there.

I wonder if he realizes that those old cars don't talk back, but the bride might!

There was talk at the auction about it being an A roadster, but the title showed it was a 32. Is the difference the windshield posts??? I'm no expert but I thought the 32's were separate as oposed to made into the body. I guess it makes sense that the title was a 32 matching the vin on the frame.

It was pretty neat afterwards watching all these cars get loaded. They had a big industrial fork lift and the driver just got underneath them and placed the car right on your trailer or flatbed. I talked with a guy that had driven in from Montana. He bought 5 bare bodies and 1 full car. He was taking them to Washignton state to sell them.

I was under the impression (and I don't do impressions) that one of the many differences between a Model A and a '32 was that the "A" had the gas tank in the cowl in front of the windshield and the '32 had its under the trunk at the rear.
I do not see any sign of a gas tank in the front of this blue car nor do I see any sign of a gas cap on top of the cowl. Is there something I am missing?

It's not a 32, cowl light hole not correct and rear deck above seat is not 32. But the frame looks pretty good with juice brakes and what I think maybe old chrome backing plates.

Hey thirt4,
Yeah, it's a '30/'31 A roadster. If you can transplant a '32 frame under an A body and ruin it with a chev engine, it ain't much of a job to put another tank somewhere else. Yeah, one thing that anyone WOULDN'T do, IMO, would be to substitute '32 windshield lower stanchions...for '30/'31 stanchions...that would be just plain old stupid,eh! This evidence alone should give the buyer pause when paying '32 prices for curr.
When it comes to what's on pink slip...legal crap shoot , but your NOT going to 'fool' someone with serious $ to spend:D

BTW- I'd pay 6K for what I see of this roadster ...all day long!

Ok, that is just what I remember about "A"'s. My dad knew them well and always was find them for me for $10 - $25 when I was in school. Sure wish I would have taken him up on them then but I was stuck on getting a '55 Chevy and finally got one for $175.
Sure wish I could get another for that price now days.
Anyway, I am now into '34 Fords and I do know the differences between them and the '33's. How life changes ones wants.
