Does anyone know where I can find a original late 28 early 29 fan belt that was red or rust color? Or have one I can buy ?? Please help

You may have luck finding one by clicking on "The Swap Meet" at the top of this page and then enter your request under the "Parts Wanted" section. Good luck !

Idea# 11: When Vermin's running, I'll try burnishing some RED or ORANGE leather dye on the outside of his belt, while it's running. "Might" work??? OR "maybe" RED or ORANGE shoe wax???

If one looks closely at available factory photos taken in
the Model A era and compares the shading of the engine fan
belt to other rubber components, etc, he can not help but
conclude that they were different colors. Fortunately we have
been able to find enough documentation, photos and NOS belts
to develop a special color agent to change your black, post-war
service (or modern replacement) fan belt to the correct brown.
Special fan belt coloring agent (it really does the job –
that normal paints can't do) B-108-P one $ 15.95/half pint

While we're on the subject of fan belts, what is the proper length of the belt?
TIA, Ken

As I recall, not all fan belts were of the 'red'/'brown' color. Some were black. Like most all of the components that went into the Ford Model A, Henry had several different suppliers. Some were red (my 'Red' belt says 'Gates'), others were black. I also have 'Gates' belts that are black. A look at the MAFCA / MARC Restoration Standards* should provide a 'sense of direction' in this regard.

* MAFCA / MARC Restoration Guidelines: section 3, page 3:
"The original fan belt was either black or reddish brown."

Another alternative to a 'reddish brown' belt, is this Black belt from Bratton's: Part #12790 - "Original wraped style belt made from the FORD blueprint by Dayco for Bratton's"
