Running engine without fan belt

I want to drive the car without the fan belt installed. Do i have to disconnect the generator wire so the generator does not motor when i do this test. I want to see if the fan blade and belt my be causing some vibration.
 
You do not need to disconnect the generator wire because it would be the same as if the engine were not running. It is only the other way in that if the generator does not have a path to discharge what it is generating it will overheat.
