Running board step plates

I purchased a pair of step plates some months ago and have not seen another example. Has anyone here seen these anywhere? I purchased them from a gentleman who said that he took them off of a 1931 roadster and they were on it when he purchased the car in 1957.

Ford never offered step plates, but they have been around as an after-market accessory, for decades. Yours might even be from the thirties.
The bad thing about them, is that you have to drill holes in your running boards.
If you put the tall side, to the outside, you could scrape the mud off your shoe, before entering the car. Not much need for that, in our "A"s, nowdays.

Chief said everyone Put them on basackwards in the MUD DAYS! Bill W.

Have them on my pickup. Installer buggered up the holes or I would pull them off. Probably the same genius that replaced all the blue steel parts with stainless and ran whitewalls on cream wheels. Seems he forgot the flower vases and wolf whistle. Sure drove down the selling price. That otta make ya growl! Good Luck: Fred A

I believe that "Chief" is right. I believe the tall section was a boot scraper instead of for protecting the splash pan, but who knows, the "FORD" is always oriented like the one in the photo. ??????

Where do the flower vases go on a pickup? :D[/QUOTE]

Since my pickup is an open cab, Guess they attach to my hat. Others may have other ideas. Good Luck: Fred A

They go on the firewall, under the hood. Kinda hot there, so cactus flowers are recommended.

Growley bear, this set of step plates came off my 1931 S/W. They seem to match your example.

if the plates are mounted with raised part on the outside it will be a toe stubber for sure.......It is to protect the splash apron...
