Running 3 stromberg 97’s questions

I currently run 2 strombergs on an Edmund’s intake. Well, I have all the stuff to go up to 3 carbs with an offenhauser intake. I didn’t do it before because I wanted to keep it simpler while building and starting my first flathead.

Question, can I run the triple carbs with my center water outlet edelbrock heads? Or do I need heads with a front water outlet? This may foil my plan if so (I don’t want to buy and/or replace my heads).

Any photos of triple 97’s installed?

Thanks!

Before you go to the trouble of going with three carbs, I would suggest that you read JWL's book. It comes down to why do you want three carbs. 3 /2's do look mighty cool!!!
Good luck

Its been done for years, total bolt on.. There is a flathead intake shoot out they call it on line somewhere. You should check it out. It shows dyno testing results for a lot of different flathead intakes. I think the top two were the slingshot and a Edelbrock Try power. A lot of 3x2s performed worse than 2x2s so be aware. They do have a high wow factor as stated above. Tim

My '40 had that setup when I first bought it, but with the Edelbrock 3 carb intake. The main issue I ran into is getting an offset generator bracket to fit right with the finned heads. You might have to grind down some fins on the heads.

If you decide to sell the dual Edmund's intake I am interested, I have been looking for one of those.

If your going to run progressive the center Carb. is typical but the front and rear have their idle circuits modified so they do not work.

Make sure you have an inline fuel pressure regulator. Two (2) pounds max fuel pressure. I run three 97's on my 286CI 8-BA.

there must have been a thousand posts on this "run what suits you" But read as much as you can so you know what goes on .Have seen many setups many work but lots dont do so well . Ensure you know what your engine needs and what you want and you should be fine .
