rug cl ****** shifter

If the trans you have has the external shifter arms, any four speed shifter should be able to be made to work. The later models of these tranies were shifted internally. There were two shifters I am aware of, the short for a pickup, (which fits the correct location for an older car) and the long shifter for Granada and other mid sized cars of that era. I ran an aluminum case RUG in my 55 for a while. The case leaked right through the side of the casting, and the ratios really suck. Needless to say, I dont recomend them.

The ****** was given to me, so I thought i'd give it a try. I've had a three speed truck bell housing altered so that the ****** will mate up. Oh, this is going in my 62 uni short box.

Id like to give this RUG trarnsmission a try. Do you have shifter part numbers that I could look at. I've seen a good picture of a hurst shifter on a rug ******, but cannot read the numbers. I've contacted Hurst and they say that none of there shifters will fit. Scratching my head trying to figure things out. Any help would be appreciated.

If your trans is the early one with the cast iron case, any four speed shifter for a ford top loader should work. For reverse, a second smaller handle will do with a spring load to keep it from falling into gear when you dont want it to. The original shifters may be imposible to find unless you buy a truck to get it.
