rtv or jb weld?

I am trying to stop a oil leak in the rear of my model b transmission. I know that they make new shafts with o rings to fix the problem, but I want to get to know my new to me a and put some more miles on it before I have to take it apart.
I am thinking about either using rtv or jb weld to a large washer to cover the hole, but I don't know if jb weld will come off when it comes time to take it apart and don't know if rtv will stop the leaking. I searched for a solution, but I guess that other than taking it apart, this is all I could come up with

Thanks.

RTV for sure. There is a cover for the A trans that has pockets for the shafts and enough room for RTV, and it worked on my oldest car for a long time. JB might be very hard to remove when you want to.. Permatex rates their Ultra Black as highest rated oil resistance RTV. I have had a lot of good results with it in oily situations

Thanks for the replies, I am leaning towards rtv too. I don't know if the washer will help alot, but it gives me more surface area to seal. I got everything clean and will pick up some of the black permatex in the morning.
Thanks.

Use the washer with silicone gasket material because it will withstand heat and exposure to the transmission oil.

Use brake cleaner and compressed air to clean the area before you use the silicone sealer. You can scrape off the silicone if it doesn't hold and then try JB, but not vice versa. JB can be tough to remove. Depending on how quickly the oil reappears after cleaning, you may need to lower the oil level in the trans. The silicone will need time to set before being contaminated with oil.
