I have a newly built 8BA in my '36. Engine has mildly increased compression and a mild cam. I'm using the stock original 97 carb and the original helmet distributor which was recently rebuilt by Skip.
The engine starts instantly and runs smoothly, but has been a little rough under load/acceleration. I advanced the timing 4 degrees using the adjustment screw on the distributor and that helped it some, but the problem is still there.
It's hot here and the engine temp is stable at 180-190 degrees. I thought vapor lock was the trouble, but running the boost fuel pump makes little to no change in the feel of the engine.
The coil voltage is 4.8-4.9 volts at idle, point gap is .014. Plugs are new, gapped .025. Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks
