Rostra cruise control

Okay, yes I will call rosta on monday but I am working on this now so any help would be appreciated. I have not been able to get my cruise control to operate and have been checking all my wiring over again.

The instructions say to connect wire xx to the HOT side of the brake switch. I am pretty sure that this is supposed to cancel the cruise when the brakes are applied. When I checked the circuit that line is always hot. Wouldn't that be canceling the system all the time as the current is always on.

Shouldn't it be wired to the terminal that goes from switch to the brake lights?

Maybe my ignorance of HOT got me in trouble here.

Thanks,

Not a Rostra, but the cruise I have on my 56 Bird has two wires that go to the brakelight switch. One, which is hot all the time and the other hot only when you hit the brakes. When you hit the brakes, the circuit is completed and the cruise goes off. Are you sure you only have one that goes to the brake light switch?

How do you like the unit besides the problem you are having? It is a nice compact unit and almost "stealth". I have been thinking of changing mine as i am restoring the Bird now and want something that is not so obvious. I heard the Rosta unit is small and not obvious. Appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

I am going to tap into the other side of the switch that gets voltage only when the switch is activated. Hope that will clear up the problem.
