what sealant is best to use when installing new replacement roof / top . Urethane or polyurethane that you use on car windshield or Butyl rubber or camper roof sealant or auto body seam sealant and I was told not use silicone because if you have to do any painting it gives you a lot of trouble repainting areas with silicone it is hard to clean off from what I ben told .

everyone has their preference. you are right in avoiding too much silicone. paint just wont hold.


I prefer butyl myself. holds up well and great on repelling water.

Ronn is spot on I'm my option with butyl. Sealants have specific parameters and material compatibility.
