Roll down rear window in coupe

I have a 31 deluxe coupe with roll down rear window. Need to lubricate mechanism so it will roll down easier. How do you get to to this area. Cannot find how this is done.

Thanks,

I installed my roll down window about three years ago. It is mounted to the rear package tray and to the wood body frame work below the window and there is also a drain pan with hose attached to drain off any rain water that might run down the glass. I don't know if you can see much of the mechanism from inside the trunk. If not then the seat will need to be removed to gain access to the parts.
Removing the seat is not a big job, but should be done with a helper so as not to scratch any paint, pieces of card board or carpeting help protect surfaces. I have to remove the seat from my A to gain access to those parts. Good luck,

Chet

Chet,
Thanks for the information. I looked in the rumble area but could not see anything. I saw the drain pan/hose that you spoke of. I have never removed a seat from a coupe. What is involved? Will the package tray have to be removed? Any information on removing the seat will be appreciated. Removing the seat from my pickup and tudor is simple. I assume the coupe seat is bolted to the frame. Anyway I appreciate your help

George,
Remove the coupe seat cushion, then the adjusting knob needs to be removed; large slot screw on the front face of the knob pull the knob toward the firewall. The large adjusting screw is easily seen and removed by turning it so that it backs out toward the rear of the car; there should be a thrust washer on the front face of the screw. There should be twelve flat head screws, six on each side that need to be removed. With your paint guards in place and the aid of a helper, lift the seat, lean it forward some and pull it out through the passenger side. And no, the package tray doesn't have to be removed. The seat is heavy as I am sure you already know. You should then be able to look in and see the regulator mechanism. Lubriplate should work well on this. Let me know how it goes.

31 Pickup,
You might try some slickery stuff, sprayed in the glass felt channels, might do it. I've used PAM, ARMOR ALL, even JOHNSONS dusting wax spray. Spray enough, so it will dribble on down the hidden part of the felt. Bill W.

I used the silicone stuff from Lowe's for garage door springs. It goes on wet and than dries , it helped some.

I always start with silicone spray in the glass runs ---spray it and move the window, spray again to work it in.

Perhaps removing the inside frame would give enough acess to spray something like motorcycle chain lube on the glass channel where the arm hooks and on the gear
