Rods

Hi new to this, i have a 31 fordor s/w 160 B and the right side tie rod rubs on the backing plate i have checked to make sure the spring is in right and it is the ball is in good shape too i dont know why this is going on please help, Thanks Ford guy 2

the spindle arm is either loose in the bore in the spindle, or its bent. There is a special wide nut used on the spindle arms. This nut has a machined face that rests on another machined face on the spindle. The contact between these machined faces under the correct torque aligns the arm. Using a standard nut will not align the spindle arm and allows it to wander in the bore. If its bent, get another one.

You probably have a bent steering arm. If the steering arm was the least bit loose it would cause a BAD shimmy, especially if you hit a bump.

I did check out the spindle arm and it was bent so i heated the arm up with a torch nice red color put a pipe on the end of the arm and bent it back put it back on the car now it is working great thanks to you
