two questions well mabe three. did a 28-29 roadsteer pick up come with a fold down top? does the third bow sit farther back than the back of the cab and last would any one care to share a pic of there RPU so I can see what the top is suppose to look like and if you know tell me if it is the original top irons or repos.

Roadster pickups did NOT have fold down top irons. I believe roadster pickups were one of the cheapest or the cheapest vehicle Ford made in the model A years.

I haven't paid enough attention to repros to offer an easy way to distinguish them. I do know that the raised ribs aren't as deep but that's meaningless unless you have something to compare to. I will guess however that the front bow is straight across the front lacking the forward arch that all originals have. This original set also has an upward arch at the front bow which is not common on the 76-A Open Cab. It IS common on the 76-B Open Cab.

I am pretty sure he ask if original RPU top irons folded down. I guess we will never know for sure, I have made mistakes before and maybe I screwed up again (like my wife always reminds me of).

I think that the open cab pickup was actually called an Open Cab Pickup. not a Roadster Pickup.
There was a good reason for having the fixed top.
With the folding top you would not be able to use all of the pickup bed when it is folded down.
I take my top off when I want to get sun burned.

I have a 28 Roadster Pickup and the top iron in the front appears to be essentially a "C" channel that curves around both the passenger and driver side. The wood (or whatever it was) in that channel has rotted out. The staples that hold the vinyl in place will not stay at all. Looking for a solution. Hoping not to have to replace the whole top iron piece.

I can dig out the material and shoot something into the channel that hardens. Thoughts?
