Road testing the 32 after sitting

Cut Out !! After with 2 BAD experience's with cut outs on my 32's I use FUN PRODUCTS cut out which is a voltage regulator set up in the cut out shape & size. JMHO kerk

I contacted them, they said they don't make one for a Model B. Not sure if there is a difference between Model A and Model B.

While I am at it, stock old motor, what should I expect for a compression reading?

I put a new engine in my '51 about a month ago, and after a stumble (the voltage regulator stuck and ran the battery down), everything seems fine. Took a 250 mile "Road Trip" last week, and it didn't miss a beat. Something like that can really build your confidence in your car. The Merc runs great with the prepped Edmunds heads and 2GC carburetor. I filled up on the way back and the mileage came in at 19 mpg. Not real good unless you consider I was running at 60 to 65 most of the time in a car without overdrive. (That OD transmission hiding under my bench better watch out; it's going back to work!)

Regarding the FUN PROJECTS round voltage regulator, they do have one to suit your model B Ford ---Its the model A one, part number S10505 R which is a 6 volt positive ground unit with the FORD script on top of the cover. This regulator suits the generator which has the terminal stud on top of the generator, and not the one with two wires coming out the top of the generator. Cost is $70.85 each. Has a full instruction sheet for fitting and adjusting the third brush correctly. I have used these on a number of cars and they work very well. Regards, Kevin.

Thanks. Got the car running last night. the spark plug tester was invaluable. To not skip over anything, the issue was:
Bad/missing cork gasket in fuel pump
Stuck float valve in Carb
Coil wire not seated in the distributor and the last one?
I replaced the coil a few months ago and just lightly attached it to the firewall until I knew it worked. In shipping the car to the new garage the coil vibrated loose and pulled the main wire out of the coil.
Oh, and I should mention I also replaced the Amp gauge, which I think was the original issue. I gather the 32's tended to short out.

I hooked up the coil and it fired right up. has a bad bog down when you give it gas, but I think the carb settings are off now. Will go back to original settings and hopefully take it around the block.
