After getting my 31 tudor sedan running, one of my sons wanted to hear it yesterday (4th). The car sat for 45 years on blocks and I freed up the engine so I put some gas in a temp gas can and fired it up, it still smoked a lot but I drove it out of the garage under it's own power. I let it idle a little and it smoothed out and ran good. I thought what the heck let's go for a short ride to the corner (1 mile). It shifted great, brakes good, all the lights work, speedo works, the amp gauge showed discharge, I'm sure I wired it right but I'll check that. I took it for another ride about 3 hrs later and it didn't smoke much and really ran good.

If its still not charging you might try 'flashing/polarizing' it. Start it and just jump across the cut out terminals for a nano-second.

Sea-Foam would be good in the gas and oil. I add 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to each 10 gallons of good gas that I use in my older cars and all my small engines. Today's gas isn't as good as what we had before the government got involved, so adding a bit of oil is good to help keep rust out of the tank, and it helps upper cylinder lubrication. I friend gave me a 2 gallon can with some two cycle mixed gas, and since I always use 16:1 mix, and didn't know the ratio of this free gas, I've been adding it to my Studebaker tank to use it up. I'd put it in my Model A, but I need to get my new engine installed first.
