RIPRAP- piling old cars along a river

Recently some photos showed up on HAMB, and reminded me of a RIPRAP pile I found in Oregon 30yrs ago. ON top of this pile was a '33 3window cpe with custom flaired fenders-no running boards. We tried to pull it up the bank with a 4x4, but no luck. The car was so thin ,you could ponke a finger thru it. I saved the glove box door- made a 'gift' of it and yesterday it was given back to me. photo, Newc

The glove box doors you sent me we a whole lot better than that one !
Thank you again Dale.

Totally illegal these days (and it should be). When I was a kid, wd had a local ravine with some cars dumped into it. The only thing of interest was a Crosley station wagon.

I think it's still there.

In my "New car to me" picture album, the "before" picture is just like what Dale said. If you look closely, there is a bridge behind the car and several more cars were dug into the ground to "save" the farmer's bridge. Interestingly like Dale's post, this was also in Oregon (Eastern) Oregon, the dry side of the state. Dale's sounds like maybe it was on the wet side!
Everything under the ground on this car was perfect, it still has the original floor and sills.
