Rings & Bearings?

I am putting together a '36 LB. Does it make any difference if I use NOS or NOSR rings and bearings or go with the modern made ones? Thanks Mike

My honest opinion is to use the Hastings rings if you can find them, also I know from my jeep, when I was putting the engine together, wd40 makes the rings seal almost instant. Spray the cylinders to. Hope this helps you. I used them in my jeep and it runs perfect.

You'll not find modern manufactured bearings to suit this engine. Harder to find, but good new old stock/NORS are out there. Rings will be easier. Good luck, Brian

If you are looking for NOS or NORS, check with Fred Wilner at Southside Obsolete, Faribualt MN,

We tried new bearings and after spending hours sanding to try and get them to fit, per Old Ron's book. We then broke down and bought NOS fit perfect with no modifications. I would spend the time chasing down NOS. Dave/Green Bay

The best set of rings I ever used on a re-ring job, was , I think, 'Perfect Circle' brand, [but not 100% sure], Definitely American made anyway, the instructions stipulated to just fit them into the cylinders, not to deglaze. I did just that and they are brilliant! This is in my 21 stud, pump in head, hi performance engine, that that I cane the daylights out of!

What are the specs on the engine bore size ring widths a set can be had post the info.

Are Perfect Circle rings still made? They are an old time company-I haven't heard their name in years.
