threads are stripped on the spindle, right front, is there any way to fix these , or do i have to replace the entire spindle, it is a july 28 front end, are all years the same, or , do i need to look for a 28 ?..thanks ..charles..:o)..

Replace the spindle, it is the best way.

Depending on the assenbly plant, the early spindle back was round, the later, continued to end of production, was rectangle shaped.

Check the spindle on the other side and replace with the same type.

Replace the spindle. IMO do not machine down to a smaller diameter or try welding up the treaded end to cut new threads. Again IMO you would be asking for trouble.

It's a pain to have to do the king pin again, but spindles seem to be very plentiful, and cheep.

At Rhinebeck last month I picked up a couple of spindles for $15 each. I can't imagine spending a lot of time trying to fix up a damaged one in a way that might not be structurally sound.

BE SAFE and get the correct set from Al LePore.

All you need is to be going down the road and the "fix" becomes "un-fixed"...ouch!
