reverse "weak"

hello- just got 24 touring running today but when reverse is selected by depressing rev pedal hard to floor with lever in mid position, car barely moves- other gears move well and car has a good neutral. this is 1st time i've ever driven a model t.
any ideas how to fix?

try tightening the reverse band. You need to open the ****** door to do this. DO NOT DROP ANYTHING INTO THE ******! Remove the key from the ignition switch first. The key can magically drop right down into the transmission.

Very sound advice! It helps to pack rags around the bands to prevent anything from falling in. BUT count the rags & be sure they are all removed when done.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica]It's probably the adjustment as suggested. You say you have a good neutral. Just to be sure try moving the forward speed pedal with your foot. It might be a bit off and isn't completely in neut. Do this outside with plenty of room.
