Reverse shift noise

1929 coupe. Car runs and shifts fine. Recently I’ve heard a slight rubbing noise when the car moves in reverse. Occurs on rotation of the gear at one spot. All the others gears are good. Has fresh gear oil. Thought about replacing gear oil with STP, increase viscosity may help; or do nothing. I don’t use reverse much. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

My only suggestion is to take the top off the transmission and have a peek. Drain the oil first and run a magnet through it to see if there are any shavings. Feel the reverse gear to see if it is loose on the shaft. If necessary it is fairly simple to change out reverse gear.

If you do end up needing to replace the reverse idler, I have a couple left in inventory that I'd sell cheap.
